چکیده
pyrene and tran8-4,5-dihydro-4,5-dihydroxypyrene, were present in the bile of rats treated with pyrene. 3. In the oxidation of pyrene with perbenzoic acid an intermediate was formed, believed to be 4,5-epoxy-4,5-dihydropyrene, which reacted with water to yield tran8-4,5-dihydro-4,5-dihydroxypyrene and with N-acetyl-L-cysteine to form Nacetyl-S-(4,5-dihydro-4-hydroxy-5-pyrenyl)-L-CySteine. 1-Hydroxypyrene and 1,6and 1,8-pyrenequinone were also formed in the oxidation. 4. The N-acetylcysteine derivative obtained both synthetically and from treated animals yielded pyrene and NN'-diacetylcystine and a compound believed to be 4-pyrenylmercapturic acid with mineral acid and 4-hydroxypyrene with aqueous alkali.

SCREENING FOR STARCH-HYDROLYSING BACTERIA
Screening of3000 soil samples collected from cities of four different provinces of Iran for starch-hydrolysing bacteria revealed that the nature is enriched with Streptomyces species capable of producing amylolytic enzymes. Among the bacterial isolates, one of the high starch-degrading strains was selected for further microbiological identification and also amylolytic enzyme(s) characteriza...
متن کاملPeptostreptococcus elsdenii from the caecum of pigs.
Large, Gram-negative, anaerobic cocci (LC) fermenting lactate were first isolated by enrichment culture from the sheep rumen (Elsden, Volcani, Gilchrist & Lewis, 1956). High counts (about 109/ml.) were obtained from young calves but not from adult ruminants by Hobson, Mann & Oxford (1958). The cocci were cultured in numbers of 1 0 6 to 103/ml. from the rumen of cattle fed high-grain rations and...
متن کاملCulture and physiology of a starch-digesting bacterium (Bacteroides amylophilus n. sp.) from the bovine rumen.
Studies in this and other laboratories have disclosed a variety of starch-digesting rumen organisms, including Streptococcu bouis (Hungate et al., 1952), several cellulolytic strains (Hungate, 1950), and various non-cellulolytic bacteria (Gall et al., 1947; Gall and Huhtanen, 1951; Huhtanen and Gall, 1953a, b; Bryant and Burkey, 1953a,b; Jayko, 1953; McPherson, 1953; van der Wath, 1948) as well...
متن کاملEffects of Matricaria chamomille and Cichorium intybus powder on Performance, Rumen Microbial Population and Some Blood Parameters of Dallagh Sheep
BACKGROUND: Manipulation of rumen microbial population for improving animal performance is done by several methods including medicinal plants. Matricaria chamomille (chamomile) and Cichorium intybus (chicory) are two medicinal plant with antibacterial effect that there is little information about the effects of them on rumen microflora. OBJECTIVE: The present study was carried out to evaluate t...
متن کاملEffect of rumen bacteria from sheep adapted to a tanninferous diet on in vitro fermentation parameters of pistachio hulls using bovine inoculum
Sheep adapted to consume tannins rich feeds such as oak leaf (OL) appear to develop defensive mechanisms by their ruminal bacteria against these polyphenols. The capabilities of ruminal isolated tannins resistant bacteria from these animals to ferment a tanniniferous feed (i.e., pistachio hulls, (PH) which were incubated with rumen fluid from Holstein dairy cows was assessed. Six g positive coc...
